Frequently asked interview questions:
Tell me about yourself.
It is important to be succinct and include the following information in just a few sentences:
- background (education, job history, where you've lived)
- significant career accomplishment(s)
- what's next (your goals for the future)
Why make a move?
You should explain what challenges you're seeking, what your talents are, and what you're looking for next.
Why should I hire you?
The best answer to this question concerns the bottom line. You should be able to:
- increase revenue
- reduce expenses
If you can make a company more profitable, chances are they will want you on the team.
Questions you need to ask:
- What qualifications would I need to be successful in this position?
- What are the expectations in the first 6-12 months?
- How will I be evaluated?
- If I do an outstanding job, where do high achievers go?
- Why are you here? (directly to the interviewer)
Resume Tips
- Simplicity: Don't get too wordy, describe your accomplishments and qualifications without excessive use of words like "facilitated" and "value-added."
- Value: You should mention specific ways that you were to able help a previous employer make money, save money, or improve a process.
- Honesty: Don't lie. Stay focused on what you have achieved. Employers can find out a great deal of information through background checks. It is likely that you will be found out if you are less than truthful.
- Help: An extra set of eyes can spot typos or provide you with additional information that you may have forgotten to include. Having a friend or family member assist in the editing process can make a big difference.
